Thank you to all the readers who stuck with me this week!
It’s been quite the ride through the Texas Hill Country. This is a fast growing wine trail, with 70+ places to sit and enjoy your favorite glass of vino. The area is still expanding – which means stiffer competition, more knowledgeable consumers, and hopefully more fantastic wineries producing 100% Texan wine.
To recap:
#1 Calais Winery – Great wine maker and wine, which I would put head-to-head with anyone in the country.
#2 Westcave Cellars – Family owned and operated, making amazing red wines that deserve their slice of the national spotlight.
#3 Newsom Vineyards – Amazingly tasty yet subtle wines; full of flavor in layers, which bend your taste buds like Morgan Freeman bends you ears in Shawshank Redemption.
#4 Williams and Chris Vineyards – Popular for good reason. A well trained staff and some killer Mouverdres.
#5 Hawk’s Shadow – Think Maverick from Top Gun: they flyby the tower whenever they feel like it, and get away with it. The Bad Boys of wine.
Instead of the Texas Revolution motto, “Come and Take it,” I say the Texas Wine Revolution should be, “Come and Taste it!”
If you are wine lover, better make your way to Texas fast. And if you are in the wine industry reading this be warned- Texas wine is coming for you.
